In the "What We Are About" books section of this site, some folks posted the following comment for an approach to fostering communication in the rural community.
Their post: My husband and I were talking after the meeting last night and had the idea of creating gatherings in the rural areas. So the communities can express their views/questions/ideas. Then there could be a representative from each meeting that would share those items with the planning department/commission. I'd like to hear feed back on this idea. Thanks :)
Also I'd like to mention the Sierra Business Council. They have a "Saving Rural Communities Toolkit" on their website that has very similar wording to many of the things in the GPU. Such as the term "Smart Growth". I gave my print out to Rodoni last night for him to check into it.
